CinemAsia was founded out of a passionate desire to increase visibility and understanding of Asian culture in all its diversity. Our mission is to foster authentic and contemporary representations of Asian (diaspora) cultures in the Netherlands. Every year, we bring this vision to life through the CinemAsia Film Festival, showcasing the best in Asian and diaspora cinema. Beyond screenings, we create engaging programs that spark discussion, challenge stereotypes and discrimination, and build cultural empathy and connection. CinemAsia also serves as a creative platform for Asian (-Dutch) talent and role models, offering workshops, training, and opportunities to shine. As the only Asian festival in the Netherlands and Europe that works predominantly with Asian programmers, staff, volunteers, and filmmakers, we are committed to promoting Dutch Asians in leadership and creative roles within the media.
